👋 Hello! 👋
What’s all this then?
This blog will host long text rambles of what it is like to be autistic, being diagnosed later in life, assigned female at birth, and married. In that order, probably.
Very nice… how often can we expect to see posts?
I aim to post as often as I can. How very not-autistic of me to be so vague, but as this is not my full-time career and I have a tendency towards burnout, it is difficult to put a time horizon on things and preemptively set unrealistic expectations.
However, things will be posted when they are done, announced on social media (all accounts linked in the main menu bar above). Eventually, I will use blog posts to conjure up different media (short- and long-form video, podcasts etc.) further down the line (here we go with unrealistic expectations again).
Can you be more specific about what content you will post?
I have had a long (over)think and come up with 5 set categories of posts - I will explain them briefly here and more in-depth elsewhere:
-
5 Things… - …about a topic. So, five key aspects about something. An example could be my ‘5 most outwardly-obvious autistic traits’.
-
Life on the Spectrum - a play on the name of the blog, but these will be story time posts. Anecdotes of my life that all point back to autism.
-
Infodumps - where I freely ramble about a special interest and bore you senseless about it. These posts will be completely wildcard, much like my special interests themselves.
-
Opinion Pieces - taking a piece of autism-related content (anything at all - books, scientific research, tests, videos etc.) and give my ‘hot take’ on it / relate it to my real-life experience of being autistic.
-
Ask Me Anything - like the subreddit on Reddit, I gather your questions and answer them. These will probably come about once the blog has some sort of audience. Otherwise, I can find quizzes online or something.
What comes next after this post?
Coming very soon - the first actual proper blog post, based around my autism diagnosis and the process.
Until next time,
